Practical introductory webinar for NHS and healthcare professionals

  • Wednesday 4 November 2026
    12:30pm-13.30pm (via Zoom)
  • £20 per person

Healthcare services should be accessible to everyone. However, deaf people continue to experience communication barriers that can affect their access to information, appointments, treatment and care.

Join SignHealth for a practical, deaf-led introduction to making healthcare more accessible for deaf people. This webinar will help healthcare professionals recognise common barriers, communicate more effectively and identify practical changes that can improve the patient experience.

The session is also an opportunity to explore whether your wider team would benefit from more in-depth training. You will leave with a clearer understanding of your organisation’s responsibilities and how a full workshop could help your team turn that understanding into practical improvements.

Learn for £20 and help your organisation take the next step. If your service or organisation goes on to book a half-day Accessible Healthcare for Deaf People workshop, the £20 taster fee will be deducted from the booking cost.

Why attend now? Meeting the AIS helps deaf people access information, communicate with healthcare professionals and receive better quality care. With organisations expected to identify an AIS lead, review their current approach and create an implementation plan, now is the time to build your understanding and start the conversation in your service. Book your place and take the first step towards more accessible healthcare for deaf people.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any previous knowledge to attend the webinar?

No. This is an introductory webinar, and no previous knowledge of deaf awareness, British Sign Language or accessible healthcare is required.

Is this webinar only for NHS staff?

The session is primarily designed for NHS and healthcare professionals. Colleagues from other health and care organisations may also find it useful.

Can several people from the same organisation attend?

Yes. Each person should complete a separate registration so that they receive the joining information and can tell us about any accessibility requirements.

However, if several people from the same organisation are interested in attending, it may be more cost effective to book a separate workshop for your service, further details found here or you can complete our enquiry form to find out more.

How does the £20 workshop credit work??

If your service or organisation books a half-day Accessible Healthcare for Deaf People workshop after you attend, £20 will be deducted from the organisational workshop booking.

This is a booking credit rather than a cash refund to the individual attendee. Redemption details and any booking conditions will be confirmed after the taster session.

What if I have accessibility requirements?

You can tell us about your requirements on the registration form or contact newbusiness@signhealth.org.uk. Please contact us as early as possible so that we can make appropriate arrangements.

What if I register but can no longer attend?

Please email newbusiness@signhealth.org.uk so that we can refund you and offer your place to someone else.
