Transcript: The Cabinet Office announced today the appointment of Jackie Driver as a recipient of the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) award. This honour is a well-deserved recognition for Jackie’s tireless commitment in the fight for equality.

Jackie is Chair of the Deaf health charity SignHealth’s Board of Trustees and also Chair of the Manchester disability charity BreakthroughUK, and is widely recognised s an influential advocate for disabled people’s rights. On top of that, throughout her career, she has also been a strong activist for women’s rights, for the LGBT+ community, and, most recently, for people in Manchester disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.

“A visionary leader, Jackie inspires others to lead with authenticity and humility. She is a shining example of what people in the public and voluntary sector can do – the country is a better place for what Jackie has achieved in her career”, said James Watson-O’Neill, Chief Executive at SignHealth.

We hope you will join us in congratulating Jackie for achieving this high-level award.

“I feel very honoured to receive this recognition – but everyone knows, it takes a village – I receive it on behalf of everyone who makes the active choice to make this world a little fairer for all, quietly and without fanfare.”
