SignHealth is a passionate and unique Deaf led charity, committed to creating a future where there are no barriers to good health and wellbeing for Deaf people. Our Psychological Therapy Service delivers NHS England’s National BSL Talking Therapies (IAPT) Service.
We deliver therapy directly in British Sign Language (BSL) to Deaf patients without the need for interpreters. We support people who are having difficulty in coping and who may be suffering from a common mental health problem such as depression, anxiety or a phobia.
Applicants must be fluent in BSL. This must be demonstrated on your application and will be further tested at interview, applications that do not demonstrate fluency in BSL will not be considered.
The Trainee CBT position includes undertaking a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at Coventry University.

From January 2023 you will attend University 2 days per week and spend the rest of the week learning and practicing the skills and techniques to become a qualified HIT Step 3 CBT Therapist. You will be homebased but due to the nature of our work as a national provider we are looking for someone based in the Midlands region. If you do not live in this area you must be willing to travel and attend university alongside providing face-to-face clinical sessions in this area where necessary.
Upon successfully completing your training and qualifying you will become a Band 7 HIT CBT Therapist.
To study this course, you must have a relevant core mental health profession or be able to demonstrate the equivalent knowledge, skills and attitudes via a ‘KSA’ portfolio. PWPs should have a minimum of two years post qualification experience in line with national IAPT guidelines.
All other KSA candidates must have at least 2 years of relevant mental health related work experience, as well as a range of formal and informal training to have met the KSA standards.

The position includes undertaking a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at Coventry University , two days per week over one academic year. Three days per week will be spent working for the service gaining invaluable experience working with people from the Deaf community. The course requires self-directed study and so the ability to integrate study with clinical practice is important. We work closely with the University to ensure a joined-up approach to training and supervision.
