Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus (womb). They are common and may not cause any symptoms, but some people experience heavy or painful periods, pelvic pain, frequent urination or fertility problems. Treatment depends on the size of the fibroids, symptoms and individual circumstances.
