This is Dorthy’s story of poor access to communication, due to no understanding or training about providing BSL / using video relay service that was in fact available at her doctor’s surgery.
Dorthy got a slap across the face whilst laid in a hospital bed when asleep, due to the nurse not knowing she was deaf and in fact just asleep.
These barriers put deaf women and their baby’s life at risk, without accessible information available at doctor appointments.
We need change, and you can help.
Could you donate £3 to educate an NHS professional on how to meet deaf people’s needs?
