Sunday 7 September 2025, 3pm

On Sunday 7 September the UK Government will carry out a national test of the Emergency Alert System.

If you have a 4G or 5G phone, it will vibrate, make a loud siren sound, and show a message, even if it’s on silent.

This is only a test alert. You don’t need to do anything.

The emergency alert system is designed to warn people about life threatening emergencies like flooding, fires, or extreme weather in your area.

If you have any other devices that you never use, the alert will still come up.  Don’t want to receive the emergency alert? You can turn emergency alerts off in your phone’s settings.
