Coercive control is at the core of all ongoing abuse. It is the systematic pattern of a perpetrator’s behaviour towards their victim. Its purpose is to disempower a victim’s self-esteem, self-worth, and independence, creating isolation and barriers to support.
This animation was conceived and created by Ards and North Down PCSP, North Down and Ards Women’s Aid, South Eastern Sexual and Domestic Violence Partnership and Neep Pictures.
SignHealth worked with Aimee Campbell-Nottage to translate this video into British Sign Language (BSL) and shared it as part of SignHealth’s 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence in 2021.
