On 2 December we were in Westminster handing in a letter to the Health Secretary Wes Streeting. We are asking him to meet with us to discuss how to make healthcare accessible for deaf people.
If we meet with him, we want to make sure we are representing you well. Please take this survey to help us understand deaf people’s recent experiences with NHS services.
Or if you want to tell us your experience accessing health services in more detail, please email us at campaigns@signhealth.org.uk
Let’s show the Minister that providing communication access saves lives!
Working together
Deaf people are not the only ones experiencing barriers. People who are blind or neurodiverse or have other communication needs also have a right to equal access. Thank you to RNIB for inviting us and giving us this opportunity to share deaf people’s experiences with the Health Secretary.

It’s been 10 years…
Did you know, it was ten years ago that SignHealth published the Sick Of It report. The research showed how deaf people have poorer health in the UK compared to hearing people.
Barriers in health services lead to inequalities. It’s hard to make an appointment, to get an interpreter, or to get health information signed.
We are still sick of it! Where is our access?
